A Sheikh from Saudi Arabia arrived in Cyprus on Saturday on his private jet looking to make investments on the island, concerning large development projects worth millions of euros, In Cyprus reports.
Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Khalid bin Mahfouz is said to have held meetings yesterday, Monday, with state officials and Archbishop Chrysostomos.
The Saudi Arabian Sheikh and his 12-member team – comprised of advisors and managers – arrived at the old Larnaca airport on a private jet, reportedly one of the largest in the world.
The Sheikh has travelled to Cyprus on behalf of the Al Murjan group of companies, one of the leading family businesses in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, active in the areas of investment, industry and development.
Owned by the members of the Bin Mahfouz family, it was founded in 1994 by the Sheikh’s father, the late His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Salim bin Mahfouz.
The company was founded on the basis of participation in the appropriate investment and commercial environments, and to take advantage of business opportunities around the world that contribute towards economic development.
Al Murjan has expanded rapidly to become one of the largest business groups in Saudi Arabia. It operates huge investments in the areas of economy, industry, real estate, health care, operation, maintenance services, and air transportation.
The Sheikh is expected to stay in Cyprus for one week.
